Where did the music go on MTV? Maybe it's moved over to VH-1. In an effort to combat declining ratings, MTV has announced plans to develop 16 reality TV shows over the next four months.
In case you forgot, MTV pioneered the reality TV trend with the show The Real World in 1992 (long before Survivor, which first aired in 2000). Now MTV is leading to another shift- away from the backbiting drama that most reality TV is known for these days.
'Our new shows will feature themes of affirmation and accomplishment,' says Brian Graden, prez of entertainment at MTV Networks music channels and president of Logo. 'Our shows are going to focus less on loud and silly hooks and more on young people proving themselves.'"
